State a testable assumption
Instead of “we need a booking service”, describe who needs it and what should change: for example, whether customers can choose an available time without assistance. This is an illustrative example, not a client outcome.
Identify the user, their current alternative and the action that demonstrates value. Registration alone does not always mean the user achieved a useful result.
Map one complete workflow
A booking example might include selecting a service, choosing a time, confirming and changing a status. Include the entire journey and understandable failure states.
Administrative work is part of it: someone must add available times, see requests and correct mistakes. An attractive interface can still be impractical without those steps.
Prioritise by necessity
Essential features make the workflow possible. Next-stage features improve something already working. Experimental ideas require their own demand test.
Ratings, complex roles, loyalty programmes and several payment methods may all be useful. Their priority depends on the hypothesis. Every deferred feature should have a reason to return to the plan.
Agree on acceptance criteria
Write down example actions and expected results. What data is needed? What happens after a repeated click? Who has access? Which devices must work?
Also decide how to measure use and collect feedback. This separates a technical release from validation of a product assumption.
Prepare a short brief
For the first conversation, describe the user, problem, core workflow, existing material and constraints. If there is a target date, explain the event behind it.
This makes it possible to estimate an initial stage and list unknowns. An estimate is more useful when its assumptions are visible.
